Blood Mountain Cabins, Blairsville, Georgia (Zero Mile Day)
NOTE: We are currently hiking through the unceded homelands of the ᏣᎳᎫᏪᏘᏱ (Tsalaguwetiyi/Cherokee) and Mvskoke (Muskogee) peoples. Most of the ᏣᎳᎫᏪᏘᏱ and Mvskoke were forcibly removed from these lands by white settlers, beginning with the Spanish in 1539 and culminating in 1850 with the United States' program of ethnic cleansing called the Trail of Tears.
We grabbed breakfast from the country store here at the Blood Mountains Cabins, nothing fancy, just some cereal and bananas. We spent most of the day either soaking our feet, lounging around, or catching up on lost sleep. Blisters did the best he could to take care of his feet, and Clutch iced and wrapped her ankle, which she had rolled a few times over the last few days.
Sometime in the afternoon, Clutch combined two boxes of prepared gluten-free mac & cheese with one package of prepared freeze-dried three-bean chili with half a block of Cabot Vermont Sharp Cheddar to create a hiker casserole that was marvelous! We grabbed bowls and utensils from the cabin cupboards and dug in.
After finishing our most satisfying dinner, we decided it was time for bed. We're looking forward to Blood Mountain tomorrow!
